What We Do
Hillel of Chico provides weekly events to ensure student contact, offer programs and activities as well as be the center location for Jewish student bonding. Some examples include; Thursday meeting dinners, coffee dates, open office hours for drop-ins for study and social time as well as offer our space to other Jewish organizational meetings like our local AEPi chapter meetings.
Each month we provide additional events, programs and social activities. Examples include; Shabbaton weekend retreats, Havdalah camping trips, weekday Bagel Brunch during exam weeks, to honoring new members or welcome parents. We also encourage our students to join us in the community with outreach activities and services like Sierra Nevada Brewing tour, Bidwell Mansion tour, Bidwell Park hikes, Torres Shelter to serve the less fortunate and volunteer at the Kirshners Barry Wildlife Foundation. We also celebrate semester Shabbat dinners, holiday activities & celebrations, along with faculty engagement and networking opportunities.
Campus & Connections
You can find our Chico Hillel members on campus for a variety of reasons such as tabling, creating partnerships with campus centers, partnering with student organizations, Chose Chico Event, Cultural Diversity Fairs, Parent/Alumni Weekend celebrations, Study Abroad programs and graduation celebrations.
Leadership and Life Skill Development
We offer worksite development with an internship program through the Koret Foundation, workshops with Hillel and Career Center, Personal mentoring, advising, and offer resources for a variety of programs. We also celebrate Student of the month honoree, life celebrations of birthdays, mitzvot, social and spiritual accomplishments
Just like most of our Hillel office on other campuses, we offer Birthright Israel trips and partner with global organizations and offer conferences and workshops with the San Francisco Israeli Consulate, StandWithUs, Israel on Campus Coalition, AIPAC, Hasbara pro-Israel trainings. We can even write grants and search for sponsorships.
We offer a weekly space to come relax, unplug and connect face to face with peers. We offer a guided discussion focusing on one concept each week to unpack our internal selves. This group is a confidential and safe place to remove your masks of the everyday and share with peers how you are truly feeling. This program is designed to help you with TOOLS to living life and ideas of how to restart and refresh your day and week.
