30th Anniversary Benefit
In April 2017, Chico Hillel hosted our 30th Anniversary Benefit Dinner. We are so proud of the full turnout and wonderful evening with students, parents, alumni and community members. Thank you for everyone who attended or supported this event honoring Nitsa Schiffman! She outlined some of her favorite memories, most impactful past events and shared her passion and dedication to her students. Nitsa had a great effect on our organization all on a shoestring budget with a stipend that covered only 10 hours a week.
Much of what she shared that night is still true for us today. We continue to empower students to host events at their homes like Shabbat dinners and cooking holiday meals. And students still love to explore local landmarks around Chico with their friends. This next weekend we will be celebrating Passover during a Shabbaton in Lassen National Park!
Chico Hillel is making a difference and impacting students, we look forward to our future growth and will continue to celebrate our 30 years of the Jewish Student Union/Chico Hillel on campus!

Help us create a larger gathering space for our students! It is a good problem to have, we need more space. Each Thursday we host over 30 students for our weekly meeting. We provide dinner, programs and a social atmosphere for students to learn, grow and have fun with peers.
We rent a small office space just steps from campus and last year we knocked down several walls, redid the flooring and made room for new kitchen appliances! As a social and cultural Jewish club it was not easy having only one sink and no real cooking space. Now, with this new kitchen and larger common area, we have cooked and hosted Shabbat Dinners, educational events, wellness self care sessions, and have a great place for all our students to hang out and study. Check out how our new space looks here!
